Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish believes that his side should have won after their 2-1 defeat at Newcastle United.

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish has revealed that he is disappointed that his side didn't take all three points after their 2-1 defeat at Newcastle United.

On-loan striker Robbie Keane cancelled out Demba Ba's opener before debutant Papiss Cisse earned Newcastle the win with 70th minute drive.

McLeish believes that his team would have won on another day had forward Darren Bent had his shooting boots on.

"I'm disappointed we never won," McLeish told Sky Sports News. "We made about five chances and they all fell to our top man and our top marksman - Benty.

"I think we had one or two others near the end. [Tim] Krul was in great form and he has made some point-blank saves. On another day Benty would have had a hat-trick. But I'm really pleased with the way we played."

Villa are 13th in the Premier League table after the defeat.
