New Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has revealed that his intention is to turn Villa Park into a "fortress" between now and the end of the season.
In their 12 home matches this term, Villa, under the guidance of Paul Lambert, have scored a Premier League low eight goals.
Speaking at his first press conference since he replaced Lambert, Sherwood insisted that if The Villans are to retain their top-flight status, performances and results must improve in front of their own supporters.
"I haven't been a manager here yet, but when I came to play here, it was a difficult place to come and get results," he told reporters.
"I want to turn this place back into a fortress. It's very important this club stay in the Premier League."
Sherwood's first game in charge will see Villa play host to Stoke City on Saturday.
