Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has refused to disclose whether his club are attempting to secure a late loan deal for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi.
The 26-year-old is seemingly surplus to requirements at Inter, having been frozen out of the team since Antonio Conte arrived as head coach during the summer.
Atletico are said to have launched a late loan move for the Argentine, who has scored 124 goals in 219 appearances for his Italian club in all competitions.
However, Simeone remained coy when questioned on a potential swoop ahead of Monday's deadline.
"I always say the same. I can't really speak about players that are not here. Obviously, I only speak about players that we have," Simeone told reporters.
AS Monaco have also been linked with a late swoop for the South American as the Ligue 1 club look to replace Radamel Falcao in the final third of the field.
