Atletico Madrid have reportedly been knocked back in their attempts to sign Ricky Alvarez on loan from Inter Milan.
It is understood that Diego Simeone wants to sign the attacker after becoming frustrated in his attempts to acquire Torino's Alessio Cerci, who is his top target.
According to Tuttosport, Atletico's loan move for Alvarez was rejected, with Inter wanting a permanent deal in the region of £10m.
Atletico open their La Liga campaign away to Rayo Vallecano on Monday evening.
