Barcelona midfielder Xavi quells claims that the club will struggle in the next few seasons.

Barcelona midfielder Xavi has laughed off suggestions that the club will struggle to compete in the coming seasons.

The Spanish outfit won 14 trophies between 2008 and 2012, but they missed out on success in the Champions League and Copa del Rey last season.

The defeat to Bayern Munich in the semi-finals of the Champions League led to claims that German football would rule in the next few years, but the experienced Spaniard has played down those suggestions.

"I laugh whenever I hear it. Years ago I was hearing this and it seems that it will never happen, unfortunately for some," Xavi told Sport.es.

"It will take a lot [to end the era]. What is clear is that all those who talk of the end of the cycle are people who don't want Barcelona [to succeed]. Pay no attention to them."

Barcelona won the La Liga title last season by 15 points.
