Dani Alves wants Neymar to join Barcelona sooner rather than later in order to improve Brazil's chances of winning the 2014 World Cup.

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has urged compatriot Neymar to join the club before the 2014 World Cup.

The Santos player has long been linked with a move to the Camp Nou, with Barca vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu recently claiming that the club are keen on signing the 21-year-old.

However, Alves believes that the striker should make the switch to the Catalan club before the World Cup in order to improve Brazil's chances of lifting the trophy.

"If I were him I would come now to improve his tactical game in order to arrive at the World Cup in good shape," Alves told El Mundo Deportivo.

"He already knows what we have here because he has already got me to pass on all the details.

"However, I cannot pick him up and bring him here. If not, I would have done. It is his decision."

Neymar has scored 129 goals in 209 appearances for Santos.
