Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has revealed that the club's players knew little of Gerardo Martino before the coach's arrival in the summer.
Martino took over from Tito Vilanova after the Spaniard stepped down on health grounds in the close-season, and Pique claimed that the players did not know much of their new Argentine boss.
"To be fair, we didn't know much about him as he was in Argentina and it was difficult to follow their league because of the time [difference]," Pique told Sky Sports News.
"It was really difficult for us to see the games, but he has showed his character and he has some good ideas. He'll be good for the team.
"I really like him and the way he thinks. It is good that he talks to the players and tells them why they are playing and why they are not in the team. It is good to have a relationship with the coach."
Barca are currently second in La Liga, but have won all four of their games in the division so far this season.
