The agent of Martin Montoya has admitted that it would be "difficult" for the right-back to commit his future to Barcelona under the current circumstances.
The 22-year-old, whose current deal expires next summer, is widely expected to depart Camp Nou in January after struggling to hold down a regular spot in the first team.
"We do not know what the plans of the club are. We really have not spoken with them," Jose Maria Orobitg told Fichajes.
"First they had to renew players like [Cristian] Tello and [Sergio] Busquets. Now it's up to Martin.
"Let's see if we can reach an agreement, but it will be difficult because he does not play. If things don't change by January, then who knows?"
Montoya has made 36 league appearances for Barcelona since making his debut in the 2010-11 season.
