New Blackburn Rovers manager Michael Appleton has revealed his excitement at taking charge of the Championship club.

The 37-year-old left Blackpool on Friday night to sign a two-and-a-half-year deal at Ewood Park.

"I am delighted to be joining such an historic club," Appleton told Rovers' official website.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I am excited about the challenge we have ahead of us. I can't wait to start working with what is a very talented group of players."

Blackburn are currently in 13th place in the Championship table.
