Brentford outclass Blackburn Rovers

Brentford stroll to a 3-1 victory against Blackburn Rovers in the Championship, thanks to goals from Jonathan Douglas, Andre Gray and Jota.

Andre Gray's eighth goal of the season and strikes from Jonathan Douglas and Jota gave Brentford a 3-1 win over Blackburn Rovers that could prove crucial in their hunt for Championship promotion.

Gray and Tony Craig both went close for Mark Warburton's side in the opening stages, before they took the lead through Douglas on 16 minutes.

The goal came when Moses Odubajo's cross found Jake Bidwell at the far post, with the full-back calmly teeing up Douglas to fire home from 12 yards.

Blackburn battled back and were level on the stroke of half time as Rudy Gestede acrobatically volleyed home from Craig Conway's cross.

However, the home side retook the lead 10 minutes after the restart as Gray smartly controlled Alex Pritchard's cross and stroked the ball beyond Jason Steele.

Jota then struck for the third consecutive game when he rounded off a mazy run with a smart finish.

The result sees Brentford consolidate their push for a playoff place, while the defeat is Blackburn's second in as many league games.
