League One promotion contenders Bury have signed former Manchester United winger Chris Eagles on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
Eagles, 29, signs for the Shakers after it looked like he would join another top-six side in Coventry City, with whom he had been recently training.
Bury boss David Flitcroft told the club website: "Chris is a player that represents what our DNA of a player is. He joins a number of players we have given an opportunity to reignite their love of football.
"Chris is an exceptional talent that needs a support structure that can help him realise his undoubted potential. We believe if we can get Chris back to his best then we will have an excellent addition to our already young and talented squad."
Eagles had been without a club since being released by Charlton Athletic at the end of last season. He scored two goals in 15 Championship appearances for the Addicks.
