Sports Mole previews Tuesday's League One clash between Cambridge United and Bolton Wanderers, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Cambridge United will have the chance to claim a second straight victory when they play host to Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the promotion-chasing visitors will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to seven matches in League One.

Cambridge bounced back from consecutive defeats to record a commanding 4-0 win over Carlisle United on Saturday.

The U's took the lead through Sully Kaikai in the 14th minute, before they added to their tally in the second half thanks to a Samuel Lavelle own goal and efforts from Elias Kachunga and Rhys Bennett.

That comprehensive victory moved Cambridge into 16th position, extending the gap to the bottom four to six points with 15 matches left to play.

After enjoying a successful trip to Brunton Park, Cambridge will return to the Abbey Stadium, where they have experienced a period of inconsistent results, having won one, drawn one and lost two of their last four home league games.

Having scored just 15 goals in their 16 home league matches, the U's will have their work cut out to trouble a Bolton side that has conceded only five goals across their previous nine away games in the third tier.

Although the Trotters have been resolute on their travels, they let in three goals in Saturday's entertaining home draw against Charlton Athletic.

Victor Adeboyejo scored his ninth goal of the season to give Bolton a 19th-minute lead, before Thierry Small and Lloyd Jones found the net to give Charlton a half-time lead.

After restoring parity through Paris Maghoma, the Trotters fell behind again following Daniel Kanu's 61st-minute effort, but Jon Dadi Bodvarsson managed to find an equaliser to ensure that Bolton extended their unbeaten run to six league matches.

While the Trotters have proven to be a tough team to beat in recent times, they will be frustrated with the fact that they have drawn three of their previous four games in the third tier.

As a result, Bolton are currently sitting in third position and three points adrift of second-placed Derby County, who have played two games more than Ian Evatt's side.

Having failed to any of their last three away games against Cambridge, Bolton will go into Tuesday's encounter with hopes of claiming their first away win over the U's since recording a 3-1 victory in the FA Cup in January 2000.

Team News

Cambridge boss Neil Harris is unable to call upon the services of Harrison Dunk, Gassan Ahadme and Fejiri Okenarbirhie due to injury.

Jordan Cousins could be brought back into the midfield after the 29-year-old was replaced by Paul Digby in Saturday's starting lineup.

January addition Macauley Bonne may have to wait a little longer for his first start for the club, with Lyle Taylor expected to retain his place for the midweek home fixture.

As for Bolton, they will be without their top scorer Dion Charles for a second consecutive fixture after the forward sustained slight medial ligament damage in last Tuesday's win against Wycombe.

Charles is joined on the sidelines by Nathan Baxter, Ricardo Santos and Randell Williams, while George Thomason will serve the final game of a three-match suspension.

Bodvarsson could be presented with a starting place after coming off the bench to find the net in both of Bolton's last two matches.

Cambridge United possible starting lineup:
Stevens; Gibbons, Morrison, R. Bennett, Andrew; Cousins, Thomas; Kaikai, Kachunga, Lankester; Taylor

Bolton Wanderers possible starting lineup:
Coleman; Jones, Toal, Iredale; Dacres-Cogley, Maghoma, Sheehan, Maghoma, Ashworth; Bodvarsson, Adeboyejo

We say: Cambridge United 1-2 Bolton Wanderers

Although Bolton have drawn three of their last four league games, they will be determined to take full advantage of one of their games in hand, and we think that they will think that motivation will push them to claim a narrow victory over Cambridge.
