Cardiff and Ipswich, who were level on points before Saturday's game, played out a 2-2 draw at the Cardiff City Stadium.
The Bluebirds went ahead in the 19th minute when Rudy Gestede headed in Aron Gunnarsson's long throw before Jason Scotland equalised for Ipswich ten minutes later.
The Trinidadian forward fired a low shot into David Marshall's bottom corner from outside the box to send the sides in level at the break.
Ipswich then took the lead through former Cardiff man Michael Chopra, who headed in Carlos Edwards' centre from close range.
The home side equalised in the 72nd minute when Peter Whittingham converted from the spot after Aaron Cresswell was adjudged to have handled in the area.
Cardiff, who have a superior goal difference to the Tractor Boys, move up to seventh on 17 points while Ipswich also go up one place to 10th in the Championship.
