Virgil van Dijk: 'Celtic still pleased with season despite Scottish Cup loss'

Virgil van Dijk says that Celtic have still improved on last season despite losing their Scottish Cup semi-final to Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk has said that winning the Scottish Premiership will still signal an improvement for Celtic, despite being knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Celtic lost 3-2 after extra time at the semi-final stage, with manager Ronny Deila previously targeting a treble before the defeat.

"If we win the league we still improve from last year," Van Dijk told The Scotsman. "We want to win it as soon as possible and that starts on Wednesday.

"The disappointment is very high, everybody is down but we are professionals and we need to focus on Dundee.

"We need to move on. Wednesday night at Dundee is a big game, so we need to be ready for that."

Celtic are four points clear of second-placed Aberdeen with six matches remaining.
