Chelsea full-back Cesar Azpilicueta has claimed that back-to-back wins have given the team a big boost in confidence.
The current Premier League champions have had a torrid season, only winning four of their 13 matches in the top flight so far.
Manager Jose Mourinho has already ruled out winning the title for a second successive year, but believes that the team can close down the current 12-point gap to fourth.
Chelsea will take on Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday following wins over Norwich City and Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League.
"It's a start," Azpilicueta told the club's official website. "Obviously we want to carry on, we are in a position where we've come from two wins in a row, two games in which we've played really well and players are getting confidence back.
"We'll take it step by step. Now we have a tough game against Tottenham away on Sunday and we want to keep going.
"We were playing well in the last few games (prior to Norwich) but we didn't get the results we deserved. Obviously for confidence it's hard but you have to face the reality, keep working, keep trying and I think now the results are coming for us."
The Blues are 15th in the league table.
