Chelsea defender David Luiz admits that his side have not been good enough for large parts of this season.

Chelsea defender David Luiz has declared that his side still have time to turn their stuttering season into a successful campaign.

The Blues sit third in the Premier League and face a fight to the finish with London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to secure Champions League qualification.

Two chances of silverware also remain realistic in West London thanks to the FA Cup and Europa League.

Luiz has conceded that his side have been well below the required standard this season but has refused to be downbeat about life at the club.

He told The Sun: "We are not doing so well this season. But I am always very happy because I am doing what I love and it is a privilege for me to be playing at Chelsea.

"I am very happy to be here and we are still competing on three fronts. We can win the Europa League, we are still in the FA Cup and we are also fighting to get a better position in the league table.

"To me I think we still can get there and we still can be very good this season."

Luiz will represent his country in familiar surroundings tonight as Brazil face Russia at Stamford Bridge.
