Jose Mourinho 'fate to be decided in emergency meeting'

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich reportedly calls an emergency board meeting to discuss the fate of Jose Mourinho.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly called an emergency board meeting for Wednesday to discuss the fate of Jose Mourinho.

The Blues have mounted the worst title defence in Premier League history, suffering nine defeats in 16 games to lie just a point outside of the relegation zone.

According to the Daily Mail, Abramovich has summoned his management team - Bruce Buck, Marina Granovskaia, Eugene Tenenbaum and Michael Emenalo - for a meeting to vote on whether to keep faith in the Portuguese.

After romping to the title last season, Mourinho signed a new four-year deal over the summer worth £250,000 a week, meaning that Abramovich will need to pay nearly £40m in compensation should he decide to make a change.

Mourinho lashed out at his players following Monday night's defeat to league newcomers Bournemouth, saying that he felt "betrayed" by their performances on the pitch.
