Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that he was never in any doubt of John Terry extending his stay at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues skipper put pen to paper on a one-year extension to his current contract last week, which will keep him at the club until the end of next season.
Mourinho told a press conference on Friday: "There was no big emotion [for the club], I knew it [would happen]. It was just a question of the little details and the timing.
"We all found the period without football [in the international break] as the moment to sign it and make it public. Everyone knows two months before the end of the season that John is staying for one more."
Terry has made over 650 appearances and won a multitude of honours during his 17-year relationship with Chelsea.
