Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri says that he went around "player by player" to try to discover the reasons behind his team's poor performance against Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has revealed that he held individual meetings with each of his players after last weekend's defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Blues went into the match on a unbeaten run which had lasted for over three months, but the West Londoners were outplayed as they succumbed to a 3-1 setback at Wembley Stadium.

Sarri has acknowledged that his team delivered a 'bad performance', and the Italian has said that he has taken measures to determine what went wrong against the club's rivals.

At a press conference, Sarri told reporters: "I went player by player. I had a meeting of ten minutes individual meetings. We lost the match after three months and a half, we have to understand why and from the mental approach.

"If you don't have the determination then maybe you don't have the character in the mind, I wanted to understand this. The target in my mind is very clear, it is to win something and in the long time to become the best team in Europe."

Chelsea will attempt to return to winning ways when they host PAOK in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
