Chelsea agree deal to sign Basel winger Mohamed Salah

Chelsea announce that they have agreed a deal with Basel for winger Mohamed Salah.

Chelsea have announced that the club have agreed a deal to sign Basel winger Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian international was heavily linked with a switch to Liverpool, but reports emerged overnight claiming that the Blues had tabled an £11m bid for the player.

It had been suggested that the Blues' rivals Liverpool were unwilling to meet Basel's asking price of £12m.

Chelsea released a statement on their official website saying: "The move is subject to the Egyptian international agreeing personal terms and completing a medical examination."

Reports stated earlier that Chelsea were delaying Juan Mata's move to Manchester United until they had received assurances that Salah would sign for them.
