Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that the club will try to sign two new players before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month.
The new boss, who has seen two bids for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric rejected in recent weeks, has identified a central midfielder and a winger to boost his squad.
"I think we might add in those positions - we might," revealed Villas-Boas. "The sense of urgency in midfield is there.
"We play 4-3-3, we have a squad of 25. For you to prepare for a game, you need at least six midfielders. We only have four.
"But we have the versatility of [Florent] Malouda, for example, and Yossi [Benayoun] who we have been using in the ten and eight positions to a very, very good extent and a very good level."
Recent reports have suggested that Chelsea are preparing to submit a third bid for Croatia international Modric.
