Chelsea have confirmed the departure of David Datro Fofana on a season-long loan to Bundesliga side Union Berlin.
The 20-year-old was one of a number of new faces to join Chelsea during the January transfer window, but he struggled to make a significant impact during the second half of last season.
Fofana made just four appearances across all competitions, with only one of those coming from the start, while he failed to score for the Blues in that time.
The striker will now spend the 2023-24 campaign at Union Berlin, who secured Champions League qualification for the first time in their history last term.
"Union have developed extremely strongly in the last few years and it excites me a lot to be a part of this in the coming season," Fofana told Union Berlin's official website.

"The club has made a long and hard effort to find me and now I want to repay that with good performances."
Union's managing director of men's professional football Oliver Ruhnert added: "David's speed and his flexible offensive qualities are highly interesting for us.
"We want another goal-scoring player who will give our attacking game additional impetus."
Union finished fourth in the Bundesliga table last season, winning 18 of their 34 outings to finish three points clear of fifth-placed Freiburg.
However, they were the joint-lowest scorers in the top 10 of the table and have subsequently made moves to bolster their attacking options.
