Defender David Luiz is reportedly keen to extend his stay at Chelsea, but the Blues are yet to open discussions with the Brazil international.

Defender David Luiz has reportedly expressed a desire to remain at Chelsea past the end of the season.

Luiz spent most of the last campaign out of the plans of Antonio Conte, but the Brazilian has been given a regular role in the starting lineup since the arrival of Maurizio Sarri in July.

According to Goal.com, the 31-year-old wants to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge beyond the expiry of his current contract in the summer.

However, the West Londoners are yet to open negotiations with Luiz, which is leaving the player in a period of uncertainty at a time when the club are attempting to remain in contention at the top of the Premier League standings.

Chelsea are usually restrictive when it comes to offering players over 30 years of age a new contract, although Sarri has spoken openly about being left impressed by Luiz in their four months working together.
