Liverpool are reported to be mulling a summer swoop for out-of-favour Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole, with the England international said to be keen to stay in the Premier League beyond the end of the season.
Cole's contract with the West London club will run out in June, and there has been little suggestion that the 33-year-old will remain at Stamford Bridge for the next campaign or will be offered a new deal.
While Major League Soccer outfit New York Red Bulls are believed to be monitoring his situation, the Sunday People claims that the defender could link up with former Chelsea coach Brendan Rodgers at Anfield as he looks to recruit a first-choice left-back in the summer.
Although the Reds are also said to be looking at younger candidates, signing the ex-Arsenal star on a free transfer is a possibility for Rodgers.
Cole has seen his opportunities limited under Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho this season, with Cesar Azpilicueta often favoured at left-back.
