Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud reportedly prefers a move to AC Milan when his Blues contract expires on June 30, amid interest from West Ham United also.

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has reportedly opted to join Italian giants AC Milan when he departs Stamford Bridge this summer.

The 34-year-old's contract with the Blues will expire on June 30, after a season which saw the Frenchman given limited game time as Timo Werner established himself as the preferred attacker.

Giroud has been linked with numerous clubs including West Ham United, but it is believed that the striker still wants to play Champions League football, which the Hammers failed to secure after an impressive season.

According to Italian source Gazzetta, AC Milan is Giroud's preferred destination and he expects a call from the Rossoneri when he becomes a free agent at the end of this month.

The global pandemic has been a burden on the majority of football clubs no matter their size, and therefore the opportunity to sign Giroud, who scored six goals in eight Champions League appearances this season, seems to be a good option to pursue financially.

After making the move across London from Arsenal in 2018, Giroud has scored 39 goals in 119 appearances for the Blues.
