Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho 'not keen on Everton move'

Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho is reportedly against the idea of signing for Everton due to his past Liverpool links and the Toffees' lack of European football.

Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho is reportedly not keen on a move to Everton when the transfer window reopens.

The Brazil international's future is set to be one of the major talking points of the upcoming window, with Barcelona looking to sell their record signing in order to raise funds in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Chelsea, Newcastle United and Everton are among the clubs to have been linked with a move for the former Liverpool man, while staying at Barcelona could also still be an option, but transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio believes that he will want to be playing Champions League football next season.

"I know that Philippe Coutinho is one of the players that Barcelona would like to sell because the club are facing some economic difficulties. They have to sell players," Di Marzio told Sky Sports News.

"It depends on the offers they will receive on Philippe. Chelsea wanted him two or three months ago, I do not know whether they want him again. I know that Carlo Ancelotti wants to improve Everton and to have a strong Everton in the future.

"Coutinho could be one of his targets, but I am not sure he would like to leave Barcelona for Everton now, having played for Liverpool. He would also probably like to stay in a team playing in the Champions League."

Coutinho is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, but the German champions are not interested in signing him on a permanent basis.
