Jose Pekerman extends Colombia contract

Colombia head coach Jose Pekerman signs a new four-year contract to remain in charge of the South American country.

Jose Pekerman has agreed a new contract with the Colombian Football Federation.

The 64-year-old's previous deal had been due to expire at some point this summer.

However, having guided the South Americans to the quarter-finals of this year's World Cup, Pekerman has accepted the offer of fresh terms that run until 2018.

In a statement, the CFF said: "The executive committee expresses its pride in continuing with this great group of people that brought great results to the country."

Pekerman has held the position as head coach since January 2012.
