Grant Ward: 'I was convinced Coventry City would win'

Grant Ward claims that Coventry City had plenty of chances to beat Leyton Orient at the Ricoh Arena.

Grant Ward has insisted that Coventry City deserved to beat fellow strugglers Leyton Orient, despite losing 1-0 at the Ricoh Arena.

Josh Wright scored the only goal of the game to leave the Sky Blues in 17th place in League One, having played at least one game more than all of the other teams in danger of relegation.

However, Tottenham Hotspur loanee Ward believes that Coventry would have been full value to take three points.

"I thought we played well especially in the second half," Ward is quoted by club's official website as saying. "The way we were going in the second-half with the chances and momentum we created I was convinced we would win.

"We were unlucky, we had a few good chances, I hit the post, Frank [Nouble] and George [Thomas] had good opportunities, we had good moments but it wasn't our day.

"I thought I'd scored when I hit the post, I got forward a lot more and I enjoy both sides of the game. I'm improving all the time and me and John Fleck are building a good relationship in midfield, I'm enjoying playing alongside him. But it doesn't matter, we deserved the three points tonight."

Coventry now face another relegation six-pointer when they travel to Notts County on Monday afternoon.
