Crawley Town have announced that they have parted ways with John Gregory after their relegation to League Two.
In December, Gregory stepped down from his position to undergo heart surgery with the intention of returning to his job at a later date, but Crawley have revealed that they have reached an agreement with the former Aston Villa boss to end his stay at the Reds.
Gregory told the club's official website: "I would just like to take the opportunity to thank everyone at Crawley Town FC for their support over the last 18 months.
"Unfortunately, I did not get the results on the field this season that I managed to get during the second half of 2013-14.
"I would like to thank the board of directors, in particular, for standing by me and supporting me during the very difficult time that I endured whilst undergoing open heart surgery."
Dean Saunders was placed in charge for the second half of this season, but despite the Welshman recording eight wins from 24 games, Crawley missed out on survival by two points.
