New Blackburn Rovers signing Scott Dann is targeting a call-up to the England squad and says he is "more determined" than ever to break into the international set-up.

Blackburn Rovers' new signing Scott Dann has said that joining a Premier League side will help him achieve a call-up to the England squad.

Dann, 24, signed for the Ewood Park club on deadline day last week for a fee of around £6m.

The centre-back is yet to receive a senior cap at international level but has represented the under-21s.

"Obviously it's an ambition of mine to play for England and hopefully I can do that in the future," Dann told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

"Hopefully coming to a club like Blackburn can help me do that.

"I don't think I've ever been more determined. I'm just looking forward to it and I can't wait to get going."

Rovers sit joint bottom of the Premier League after losing their opening three fixtures, and next face a trip to Fulham on Sunday, September 11.
