Everton manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that Darron Gibson could be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
The midfielder fractured his fifth metatarsal in training last week and although he has been informed that surgery is not required, there is a high chance that he will not feature in any of Everton's remaining seven fixtures this term.
"With Darron Gibson we had fantastic news from the specialist because the fracture he has doesn't need surgery," Martinez told the club's official website.
"Hopefully he will be back sooner rather than later but I think it will be difficult for Darron to play again this season, but it is something we aren't certain over."
Injuries have limited Gibson to just 14 appearances in all competitions this season.
