Defender Lucas Digne backs Everton to eventually qualify for the Champions League after the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti.

Lucas Digne has backed Everton to become contenders for a place in the Champions League under Carlo Ancelotti.

While the Toffees have ambitions to earn a spot in next season's Europa League, they currently sit in 12th place in the Premier League table, six points adrift of seventh position.

However, the Frenchman has cited that the Merseyside outfit are 'building a project', suggesting that they will only improve in the coming years.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the full-back said: "To finish in Europe for sure. We have to finish very high. If we could finish in Europe, it would be the best for the club and the fans.

"We are building something, we are building a project. We have very good players. In a few years, they have bought a lot of players, they have invested a lot. We have to finish in the top four, top five, and to play the Champions League."

Ancelotti has recorded five wins and three draws from his first 12 games in charge at Everton.
