Everton manager Ronald Koeman concedes that his side must 'improve their attacking' after their lacklustre start to the new season.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has admitted that his side must 'improve their attacking' in the coming months if they are to challenge in the Premier League and cup competitions.

The Toffees have scored just four goals in their six Premier League games so far this season, while conceding 11, following a summer in which they sold the prolific Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United.

Koeman's side drew a blank in their Europa League opener earlier this month - a 3-0 defeat at Atalanta - but the Dutchman is confident that his side will be firing on all cylinders when they welcome Apollon Limassol to Goodison on Thursday night.

"I know we need to improve our attacking," he told reporters. "One aspect of that is creating chances and one is the confidence of players. That's football. I am not worried - I believe in the qualities of our strikers.

"In the beginning of the season we had some new players and we had injuries. You have to try to find the best way to attack. Now we know what we need to do to create more.

"It is a factor that we have to do that, but you start to worry if you don't have good players. We have good forwards and different options.

"We had a bad result against Atalanta but we have a good squad. The team that starts will be the strongest that we feel is available. If we change players it doesn't mean it is weaker, because it gives opportunities to others."

The outsiders in Group F, Limassol managed to take a shock point in their group opener against Lyon courtesy of a last-minute equaliser.
