Report: Fiorentina rival Everton for Hellas Verona star Jorginho

Fiorentina join Everton is the race to sign Hellas Verona ace Jorginho, according to a report.

Fiorentina have emerged as rivals to Everton for the signature of Hellas Verona midfielder Jorginho, according to a report.

The 21-year-old, who was born in Brazil but has represented the Italian Under-21 side, plays as a defensive midfielder - a position that Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is keen to strengthen.

The Spanish coach is already believed to have tested the water with a £7.8m bid, but the newly-promoted Serie A side are keen to keep hold of their best players in their first season back in the top flight.

However, ForzaItalia reports that Fiorentina have now joined the growing list of admirers.

Jorginho signed for Verona from lower league Italian side Sambonifacese two years ago and helped the team finish second in Serie B last season.
