Laurent Blanc backs France to win 2018 World Cup

Laurent Blanc insists that France can win this year's World Cup in Russia, with Les Bleus currently preparing for next week's semi-final against Belgium.

Laurent Blanc has insisted that France can win this year's World Cup in Russia.

Les Bleus have reached the semi-finals of the competition, and will face Belgium on Tuesday night for the right to be present in next weekend's final.

Blanc was a part of the France squad that won the 1998 World Cup, while he also managed his national team between 2010 and 2012 before taking the Paris Saint-Germain post.

The 52-year-old has said that the entire country now believes that they can land the 2018 World Cup.

"Yes! Everyone I meet on the street says that we're going to win the World Cup. It was only two or three months ago no one believed it was possible. France have shown they're capable, but the hardest part starts now," Blanc told Le Parisien.

France moved past Argentina in the last-16 stage of the competition before recording a 2-0 win over Uruguay in the quarter-finals at the end of last week.
