Hull City's Jake Livermore tests positive for cocaine

Hull City midfielder Jake Livermore reportedly tests positive for cocaine and will not play again this season.

Hull City midfielder Jake Livermore has reportedly tested positive for cocaine and will not play again this season as a result.

The Tigers are in a precarious position in the Premier League as they are two points adrift of survival with games against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United left to play.

It is understood that the team will have to continue their relegation battle without Livermore as The Telegraph reports that the 25-year-old failed a random drugs test following Hull's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace last month.

This afternoon, the club confirmed that the midfielder has been suspended and will not feature in their last vital matches of the campaign, but did not mention reports of cocaine use.

Livermore received widespread praise for his performances last season before making his move to the KC Stadium from Tottenham Hotspur permanent last year.

The midfielder came through the youth ranks at White Hart Lane, but struggled to hold down a place in the first team.
