Former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has claimed that his move to Inter Milan is a step forward.
The 32-year-old was unveiled to the media on Friday after completing his transfer from the Red Devils, and he has dismissed any notion that he will be playing at an inferior level.
"I have joined one of the big European clubs. I don't think this is a step backwards in my career, I believe this is a step forward for me," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.
"Even if I had stayed at United I would not have played in the Champions League.
"Inter are one of the top clubs in the world, with a great history and tradition. There was a new project in place and I immediately liked it."
Vidic spent eight seasons at United and helped the Red Devils to win the Premier League title five times.
