Didier Drogba expects World Cup progress

Didier Drogba reveals that he expects Ivory Coast to reach at least the second round of next year's World Cup in Brazil.

Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba has revealed that he expects his country to reach at least the second round of next year's World Cup in Brazil.

The Elephants booked their place at the tournament on Saturday as a 1-1 draw with Senegal saw them claim a 4-2 aggregate victory in their qualifying playoff.

Drogba now wants the team to make an impact in South America in 2014.

"It will be the third World Cup in a row for a small country like Ivory Coast," Goal.com quotes him as saying. "I am proud to be part of this adventure and then enter the history of football in my country with the third consecutive qualification.

"We're happy, we'll go home and enjoy this. We want to do something interesting at the World Cup.

"The previous two were difficult. Here we hope to have a few more chances and at least qualify from the first round."

Ivory Coast have failed to get beyond the group stage at the last two World Cups.
