Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has said that he is tired of being compared to Italian great Marco Tardelli.
Marchisio, who has picked up the nickname "Tardellino" in the press, has drawn comparisons with the Bianconeri legend due to the fact that he scores goals from midfield for both Juventus and the Italian national team.
"I've been honoured with the comparison to one of the greats of the world game, but I think the time has arrived that we talk about Marchisio," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"Enough of the 'Tardellino' statements. I am old enough and mature enough to perhaps be seen as a reference point for younger players. Or I hope to soon become one."
Meanwhile, Marchisio is preparing for Euro 2012 with the national side.
