Championship club-by-club transfer latest: July 22

Sports Mole takes a look at the transfer activity of clubs in the Championship over the past week.

The new Championship season is less than three weeks away, which means that clubs are working hard to get their squads in place before the action starts.

Here, Sports Mole looks at the division's transfer activity over the past week.

Birmingham City

Lee Clark has been relatively quiet after a flurry of transfer activity earlier in the window, although Celtic youngster Denny Johnstone is training with the Blues with a view to earning a permanent deal.

Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer has admitted that he would like to re-sign Manchester United defender Michael Keane on loan. However, he must wait to see if the 21-year-old can force his way into the plans of new United boss Louis van Gaal.

Blackpool

The Seasiders are in dire need of new signings, with only eight senior players currently on the books at Bloomfield Road. On Wednesday, new manager Jose Riga cancelled the club's pre-season trip to Spain to focus on adding to his threadbare squad.

Riga appears to have made some progress, with Barnsley defender Martin Crainie reportedly holding talks with the club over the weekend regarding a potential move.

Ricardo Fuller has joined Millwall after being released by Blackpool earlier this summer.

Bolton Wanderers

Kevin McNaughton has rejoined the Trotters on a season-long loan from Cardiff City to become Dougie Freedman's ninth signing of the summer.

Midfielder Andy Robinson, who joined Bolton from Southampton in May, has left the club after just two months because he failed to settle in the North-West.

Mark Davies could also follow him out of the exit door, with reports suggesting that newly-promoted Queens Park Rangers are keen on the midfielder.

Bournemouth

Eddie Howe's quiet transfer window has continued, although the Cherries boss has admitted that he wants to complete more business before the new campaign kicks off.

Brentford

The Championship newcomers have had a productive week in the transfer market, with Alex Pritchard joining from Tottenham Hotspur on loan and Scott Hogan moving from Rochdale on a three-year deal.

One other confirmed move this week, with Will Grigg leaving Griffin Park to join MK Dons on a season-long loan deal.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Seagulls boss Sami Hyypia is yet to make his second signing of the summer following the capture of Aaron Hughes. However, the club have reportedly had an offer accepted by Barnsley for striker Chris O'Grady.

O'Grady could replace Leonardo Ulloa, who has completed his move to Leicester City for a club-record fee of £7m.

Elsewhere, winger Jeffrey Monakana has joined Aberdeen on loan until January.

Cardiff City

The Bluebirds received a boost on Wednesday as influential midfielder Peter Whittingham put pen to paper on a three-year contract extension.

Meanwhile, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will reportedly approach former club Manchester United in a bid to sign Michael Keane.

However, Solskjaer has admitted that both Steven Caulker and Fraizer Campbell will definitely leave the Cardiff City Stadium this summer, with the former reportedly undergoing a medical ahead of a proposed move to Queens Park Rangers.

Charlton Athletic

One arrival over the past week at The Valley, with former West Ham United goalkeeper Stephen Henderson joining on a free transfer.

Derby County

The Rams snapped up youngster Ivan Calero from La Liga side Atletico Madrid on Friday, with the midfielder signing a two-year deal.

Steve McClaren then strengthened his squad further by signing George Thorne from West Bromwich Albion on a permanent basis. The 21-year-old impressed during a loan spell with the East Midlands club last season.

Fulham

There have been no new arrivals at Craven Cottage this week, although United States international Matt Besler revealed that the West London club have shown an interest in signing him.

Bryan Ruiz could exit the club in the near future, with Olympiacos reportedly hoping to sign the Costa Rica international on a free transfer.

However, manager Felix Magath has stated that he wants to keep hold of Ruiz, Kostas Mitroglou and Ashkan Dejagah after the trio impressed at the World Cup.

Ipswich Town

Mick McCarthy has not brought in any new faces this week, although the Ipswich boss is thought to be keen to offer a new deal to defender Christophe Berra.

Leeds United

Dave Hockaday made his fifth signing since becoming Leeds head coach with the capture of defender Gaetano Berardi from Sampdoria. The Switzerland international has signed a two-year contract at Elland Road.

Elsewhere, owner Massimo Cellino has played down suggestions that striker Matt Smith will be leaving the West Yorkshire club.

Middlesbrough

Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo has agreed to rejoin Boro on loan from Chelsea. The 20-year-old defender spent the second half of last season on loan at the Riverside Stadium.

Millwall

After missing out on signing Bobby Zamora last week, Lions boss Ian Holloway has moved quickly to bring in forward Ricardo Fuller on a one-year deal.

Meanwhile, Shane Lowry has joined Leyton Orient following his release by Millwall.

Nottingham Forest

Reds boss Stuart Pearce bolstered his defensive options this week with the signing of Michael Mancienne from Hamburg for £1m. He could be joined at the City Ground by Crystal Palace full-back Jack Hunt, after the two clubs reportedly agreed a loan deal.

Karl Darlow, who has attracted interest from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in recent months, has been told by Forest goalkeeping coach Tim Flowers that he should remain with the East Midlands outfit.

Reading

The Royals' transfer plans are still on hold as their takeover is yet to be confirmed, although they have been linked with former Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand, who currently plays for Police United in Thailand.

Sheffield Wednesday

The Owls still said to be keen on signing Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Roger Johnson, following a loan spell at Hillsborough last season.

Watford

The Hornets made their seventh signing of the transfer window this week, with the arrival of Ecuador international Juan Carlos Paredes from Granada. The defender has penned a five-year deal at Vicarage Road.

The club have reportedly turned down a £6.5m bid from Leicester City for highly-rated striker Troy Deeney, who is believed to have also attracted the interest of Swansea City.

Wigan Athletic

The Latics have brought another new face to the DW Stadium in the form of Manchester City youngster Emyr Huws, who has joined on a six-month loan deal. Adam Buxton, meanwhile, has signed for Accrington Stanley after leaving Wigan.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett has told Jamie O'Hara that he can leave Molineux for nothing, with the club prepared to write off the £5m that they paid Tottenham Hotspur for the midfielder in 2011.
