Jordan Henderson: 'We want FA Cup win for Steven Gerrard'

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson believes that winning the FA Cup this season would be a fitting send-off for long-serving captain Steven Gerrard.

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has suggested that winning the FA Cup would be a fitting send-off for departing captain Steven Gerrard.

The Anfield legend recently announced that he plans to leave when his current contract expires at the end of the season, with midfield partner Henderson stating that securing the English showpiece would only be what the long-serving skipper deserves.

"That'd be nice for him because he deserves something like that for how good he's been over so many years for Liverpool," said the 24-year-old, according to the Daily Mail.

"Hopefully we can go on to win the cup, that's the aim, that's what we hope to achieve and it would be brilliant for us as a team and for him personally to get something in his last year."

If the Reds were to claim the tournament this year it would be Gerrard's third piece of FA Cup silverware, having already won the trophy with Liverpool in 2001 and 2006.
