Divock Origi confident that he can step up at Liverpool

Liverpool striker Divock Origi believes that he is more than capable of filling the void of scoring goals left by the injuries to the club's frontline forwards.

Liverpool striker Divock Origi has revealed that he is confident that he can step up in the absence of the club's frontline forwards.

The 20-year-old was pressed into starting duty against Tottenham Hotspur as Christian Benteke, Danny Ings and Daniel Sturridge were all ruled out of the contest.

However, Origi was not able to find the net on his first Premier League start as his side drew 0-0 in their opening game under Jurgen Klopp, but the Belgian is upbeat that he will start scoring soon enough.

He told the club's official website: "I work very hard and I tried to work hard for the team in this game. It's a new system and I was very excited, just a bit unlucky with the finishing but I'm sure it will come.

"Everybody has encouraging words for me so I just have to continue like this and it will be okay.

"I feel sorry for the boys that are out but I will just try to support the team and do my best. Everybody says that I have the qualities, I just have to work hard and the goals will come."

Origi signed for the Reds in 2014 in a £10m transfer from Lille.
