Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: 'Daniel Sturridge injury not serious'

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists that Daniel Sturridge's knee injury is not likely to keep him sidelined for very long.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has insisted that Daniel Sturridge's latest setback is not a cause for concern.

The 26-year-old striker sat out Klopp's coronation as Reds boss in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Tottenham Hotspur after sustaining a training-ground knock involving Jordon Ibe.

Sturridge, who managed just seven Premier League starts last season, now faces a race to be fit in time for Thursday's Europa League visit of Rubin Kazan.

"We had a bad week with injuries and the best news is that it is not serious with Daniel," the German is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"He had a one-on-one situation with Jordon Ibe and afterwards had pain in the muscle stabilising the knee.

We screened him to be sure and could see a little bit of swelling but it's nothing really serious. I hope he will be ready on Thursday but I don't know, we will see."

The England international has netted twice in three league outings so far this season.
