Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that striker Christian Benteke is likely to be fit for Saturday's trip to Chelsea, but Daniel Sturridge will not be risked.
The Belgian did not feature in Wednesday's 1-0 Capital One Cup win over Bournemouth after complaining of discomfort, having only returned from a four-week absence in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Southampton.
Nevertheless, Klopp says that Benteke - who came off the bench to score against the Saints - should face the Blues, but Sturridge suffered a fresh injury setback prior to hosting the Cherries.
"I'm pretty sure Christian Benteke will be back for the match against Chelsea," he told Sky Sports News. "Daniel Sturridge has no chance to be fit."
Nathaniel Clyne scored the only goal of the game tonight as Klopp picked up his first win as Reds boss at the fourth time of asking.
