Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has hailed fellow centre-back Martin Skrtel as the club's best player of the season.

Skrtel's recent performances have earned the praise of other teammates such as Jose Enrique and Jamie Carragher, and Agger believes that the plaudits are nothing more than the Slovakian deserves.

When asked who he thought the club's player of the season was, Agger said: "Martin, without a doubt. I don't think there is any other choice.

"He has been so consistent. I'm not sure how many years he has been here but he's improved every season. This year he has become better and better.

"I think in most games he has been our man of the match."

Skrtel has made 36 appearances for Liverpool this season, scoring four goals, including one in the Carling Cup final last month.
