Liverpool's Joe Allen: 'We can win Premier League title'

Joe Allen says that Liverpool's victory over Arsenal made them realise that they can win the Premier League this season.

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has said that his side can win the Premier League this season.

The 23-year-old claims that the Reds' 5-1 victory over Arsenal at Anfield earlier this month made them realise that they can compete for the title.

"Maybe that game was a moment of realisation for us," The Mirror quotes him as saying. "We have always been confident that we can beat anyone in this league, home and away, because we have a confidence and faith in each other.

"But that game against Arsenal is something that we have drawn a lot of inspiration from. Are we in the title race? Well that's the question everyone's asking, isn't it? We are thrilled to be where we are and we feel we are on the verge of a really successful season.

"We are really looking forward to the challenge ahead in the last part of the season, but we know we've got to keep our standards really high. Who knows where that will leave us."

Liverpool, who are currently fourth in the league table, will host Swansea City on Sunday.
