Philippe Coutinho eager to maintain Liverpool momentum

Philippe Coutinho calls on his Liverpool teammates to keep up the momentum that they have enjoyed so far this year.

Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho has urged his teammates to maintain the momentum that they have enjoyed since the start of the year.

The Reds, who return to action tomorrow night against Fiorentina in the last 32 of the Europa League, have experienced just one defeat in their last 16 matches.

With a busy run of fixtures in store for Liverpool over the next few weeks, Coutinho has challenged the side to keep up their impressive form.

"It's important to maintain the momentum. The team has been doing what the coach has been requesting and everybody is trying their best on the field," the Brazilian told the club's official website.

"Everybody defends when we do not have the ball and I think that has been important in helping to allow the team to play well, so we have to continue like this.

"We know at the beginning of the season it was not like this with our form, but we have to continue as we have been and aspire to achieve good things like trophies."

Coutinho has scored three goals in 35 games for Liverpool so far this season.
