Kenny Dalglish: Carling Cup final isn't about me

Kenny Dalglish says that the Carling Cup final isn't about "individual glory" as Liverpool prepare to take on Cardiff City at Wembley.

Kenny Dalglish has claimed that clinching the Carling Cup trophy will not be about personal gain as all eyes draw on the Liverpool legend ahead of the Reds' final against Cardiff City on Sunday.

The Scotsman had an illustrious career as a player, receiving 24 honours during his time with Celtic and Liverpool.

While the Scotsman could lead the Reds to their first trophy in six years, Dalglish has insisted that the focus should be on the club as a whole.

"It doesn't really matter [about] me," said Dalglish. "The football club is more important than me. We are not going for selfishness or individual glory. We are going to better this football club.

"It doesn't matter who is involved. The football club is more important than us and the glory and success is more important than us. That is not to say when you get success you don't enjoy it. Of course you do. But the football club has to come first."

The Merseyside club face their Championship opponents at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
