Steven Gerrard: Mario Balotelli has "point to prove"

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard thinks that new signing Mario Balotelli has a "point to prove" after being hit and miss during his time in England with Manchester City.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has claimed that Mario Balotelli has a "point to prove" at Anfield.

The Italy international joined the Reds from AC Milan for around £16m on Monday, and the Reds skipper thinks that the Italian forward has unfinished business in England after leaving Manchester City in January 2013.

Speaking to former teammate Jamie Carragher for Sky Sports News, Gerrard said: "It's an interesting one, I think he's got a big point to prove. It's similar to the Daniel Sturridge one where people are waiting to see how Liverpool take to him.

"He's certainly got the talent and the ability, I've trained with him two or three times, he's got a great touch, good movement, he's quick, he's got everything in the bag.

"We'll just have to wait and see how he behaves himself. I think everyone's waiting for that and I'm no different."
