Jurgen Klopp dampens 'laughable' title talk following defeat to Newcastle United

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp plays down talk of the Reds potentially challenging for the Premier League title this term following the club's defeat to Newcastle United.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has dampened talk of his side potentially being contenders for the Premier League title following the club's defeat against Newcastle United on Sunday.

Some sections of the press had recently been touting Klopp's resurgent Liverpool side as being able to challenge for first place this season, but Klopp has insisted that those predictions are some way wide of the mark.

"I'm sorry if someone is disappointed. Maybe someone is laughing at this," said Klopp, according to BBC Sport.

"We're not part of this discussion. I hope some people did something better on this Sunday than watching this game. We have to react and learn. I'm sure the lads will do it."

Liverpool currently hold seventh place in the league standings after 15 games played this term.
